Emilio Genaro Antu, age 74, passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2022. Born to parents Manuel Antu and Herlinda Acosta de la Garza, Emilio grew up in San Antonio where he graduated from Sidney Lanier high school, and then St. Mary’s University with a degree in Biology. While there, Emilio participated in the Army ROTC program, and immediately after graduation, entered into the military. During his service, Emilio met many of his lifelong friends and got to travel and live in various places around the world, from South Korea and Germany to Colorado and California. He proudly retired after 20 years of service to his country in August 1989 as a Major in the United States Army.
To know Emilio was to know how much he loved to laugh and joke around, all the while loving hard with all his heart. He also had a life-long passion for music, both listening to and playing on his guitar. He loved biking, traveling, experiencing new adventures, but most of all spending time with friends and family.
Emilio is survived by his loving wife of 15 wonderful years, Rosa Antu; Daughters, Emily Antu Stangl, and Christina Etri; Son-in-laws, Gregg Stangl, and Jim Etri; Grandchildren, Tyler Etri and Olivia Etri; Sister, Bertha Linda Almazon and her partner Bobby Andrew West.
Hay te guacho cucaracho, until we meet again on the other side.
