Ernesto "Chico" R. Garcia

Ernesto “Chico” R. Garcia, age 81, of Hondo, Texas, passed away on February 8, 2025, in Hondo, Texas. Chico was born in Hondo, Texas on October 28, 1943, to Guadalupe and Nicolas Garcia.

Chico is preceded in death by his parents: Nicolas and Guadalupe Garcia; sister: Mary Dominguez; brother: Ramon Garcia; nephews: Bobby Dominguez, and Richard Alcaraz; and niece: Trudy Dominguez.

Chico is survived by his loving wife: Sylvia Oranday Garcia; son: Frank Garcia (Edrie); daughter: Leticia Garza (Ray); stepchildren: Esmeralda Sauceda (Sam), Marc Santos, and Eryka Santos (Kevin); sister: Lucia Alcaraz (the late Pascual), and Virginia Garcia; brother: Juan Garcia (the late Elizabeth); grandchildren: Ray Scott Garza (Trista), Nicole Garza, Frank Garcia, Jr., Ryssa Garcia, and Nicolas Garcia; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces/nephews: Rachel Alcaraz (Alfredo), Becky Perez (Alfred), Mary Rodriguez (Robert), Priscilla Alcaraz (Joe Gonzales), Gilbert Alcaraz, Christina Barrios (David, Jr.), Hector Garcia, Velma Hernandez (the late Ernesto), Lucy Zamarripa, Oscar Dominguez, and Rosemary Dominguez.

A visitation will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church on Thursday, February 13, 2025, beginning at 9:30 a.m., Recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 a.m., and Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Services will conclude following Mass.
