Monico S. Mendoza

Monico Sanchez Mendoza, age 78, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on February 9, 2025, in Hondo. Monico was born in Hondo, Texas on August 15, 1946, to Elvira (Sanchez) and Juan Mendoza, Jr.

Monico is preceded in death by his wife: Andrea “Sandy” Mendoza; parents: Elvira and Juan Mendoza, Jr.; brother: Santos Mendoza; sister: Odilia Moreno (Genaro); nephew: John Anthony Rice; and brother-in-law: Dueane E. Rice, Sr.

Monico is survived by his daughters: Cynthia Duron (Fred), and Monica Mendoza; sisters: Dora Estell Bermea (the late Felipe, Sr.), and Oralia Cadena (Raul); brothers: Alfredo Mendoza (Edna), Richard Mendoza (Eva), Daniel Mendoza (Terry), and Carlos Mendoza (Rose); 2 grandchildren: Jacob and Justin Duron; 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Hondo Funeral Home on Thursday, February 13, 2025, beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at St. John’s Catholic Church beginning at 3:00 p.m. Services will conclude after Mass.
