Paul Erwin Lutz

Paul Erwin Lutz, age 87, of Hondo, Texas, went to be with his Lord on April 11, 2025, in Hondo surrounded by family. Paul was born in D’Hanis, Texas, on December 13, 1937, to Dorothy (Dora) Josephine and Erwin Jacob Lutz.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents: Dora and Erwin; brothers: Elton and Clyde; sister: Dorothy; mother and father-in-law: Lewis and Neva Dean; and many special brothers and sisters-in-law.

Paul is survived by his devoted and loving wife of over 67 years: Mary Ann Lutz; son: Tony Lutz; daughters: Becky Balzen (Donnie), Cathy Tschirhart (Leon), and Janet Maurer; 9 grandchildren: Holly (Josh), Cody (Meredith), Amy (Ian), Jason (Amy), Jeremy, Jacob (Jenna), Sara (Diego), Jennifer (Joe), and Tiffany; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters: Rosie Rothe, Mary Howard, Erline Helms, Jenalee Schwenn, and Carolyn Bourquin; brother: Floyd Lutz (Linda); and sisters-in-law: Joyce Gray, and Sue Manago.

Paul was a dedicated husband, dad, Pop Pop, and Great Pop Pop who enjoyed sharing life with his family. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards. He spent 40 years as a highly preferred auto mechanic and retired in 1996.

A memorial service will be held at St John’s Catholic Church in Hondo, Texas, on April 21, 2025, with visitation at 6:00 p.m., and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on April 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., followed by entombment in the Hondo Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John’s Historical Association, the Parkinson’s Association, or a charity of your choice.
