Sandy Robinson, age 86, of Hondo, Texas, went to be with her Lord on March 8, 2025, in San Antonio. Sandy was born to Flora and Earl Roberts at home in Perry, Iowa, with assistance from her Aunt Olive, on January 9, 1939.
Following her graduation from Panora, Iowa High School in 1956, Sandy attended railroad business school in Minneapolis, MN, and began working for Milwaukee railroad in Chicago, Illinois until October of 1957. She then worked for GMAC in Des Moines, Iowa, until her marriage in 1958 to William Robinson. After marriage, Sandy decided to stay home with the children during their growing years. In 1975, Sandy went to work for San Angelo Independent School District. She then went to work for an oil company as a claim’s assistant in San Angelo, Texas.
Following an early retirement from the oil company in 1997, she attended Course of Study School at Perkins School of Theology to become a pastor in the United Methodist Church. During that time, and up until 2006, Sandy Pastored churches in Mertzon, Texas, and Miles United Methodist Church in Miles, Texas. In 2006, Sandy formally retired to Hondo, Texas, to be close to her family. While in Hondo, she was an active member in the Methodist Church, and other activities.
Sandy enjoyed being back in the country: spending time with family – especially with her granddaughter, Hannah- flower gardening, enjoying her cats, and bird watching.
Sandy is preceded in death by her parents: Flora Bennink and Earl Roberts; her sister: Frances Van Cleave, and her 2 brothers: Jerry Roberts, and Warren Bennink.
Sandy is survived by her son: Jeff Robinson of Hondo, Texas; daughters: Peni Griffin (Michael) of San Antonio, Texas, and Pegi Dalton (Dan) of Hondo, Texas; granddaughter: Hannah Dalton of College Station, Texas; sister: Bonnie Harmon of Grand Island, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Methodist Church of Hondo on Thursday, March 13, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Methodist Church, or to a charity of your choosing.
Services are under the Direction of Hondo Funeral Home.
